Background & Experience
Garrett F. Jagtiani is a native of Falls Church, Virginia. Mr. Jagtiani attended Lake Braddock Secondary School where he obtained a H.S. Diploma with a Career and Technical Education (CTE) Certification in Criminal Justice. Mr. Jagtiani then attended Marshall University in Huntington, West Virginia, where he was an Associate Justice on the Student Government Association Supreme Court, a member of Alpha Phi Sigma (APS) National Criminal Justice Honor Society, Lambda Alpha Ellison (LAE) National Criminal Justice Association, and Phi Alpha Delta (PAD) Pre Law Fraternity. Mr. Jagtiani graduated with a Bachelor’s degree Cum Laude (with honors) in Criminal Justice/Legal Studies and a minor in American History. He returned to Fairfax County where he served as a Deputy Clerk for the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court. Mr. Jagtiani then went on to attend Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he graduated #1 in his class with a Juris Doctorate Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors). During his law school studies, he clerked at a private law firm in Fairfax, Virginia and eventually became Co-President of the Street Law Club, which mentored juvenile delinquents in Lynchburg on law and society. After graduation, Mr. Jagtiani became the sole proprietor of Jagtiani Law, PLC and maintained a general law practice, including representation of indigent criminal defendants and pro-bono tenants facing eviction.
Mr. Jagtiani has handled many types of cases including aggressive driving, animal seizures, animal cruelty, assault and battery, business/corporation formation, breach of contract, child and spousal support, credit card fraud, custody and visitation, CDL/trucking overweight citations, contested name changes, computer harassment, debt collection, DWI, driving on suspended, drug possession, DCSE show causes, divorce, expungement, governmental immunity, hit and run, landlord tenant, LLC lability, larceny, mechanic’s liens, motor vehicle accidents, probation violations, protective orders, property settlement agreements (PSAs), personal injury, reckless driving, speeding, QDROs, wills, advance medical directives, and durable powers of attorney.
Mr. Jagtiani approaches his cases with an almost blue collar type of hard work and common sense that seeks to educate his clients, give them candid advice, and get the result that are satisfactory immediately and for the long term. In his free time, he enjoys maintaining and fixing up his mother’s properties and trips to Ocean City, Maryland’s boardwalk.
